Tobermory, Mull
Western Isles Hotel
We first heard about the hotel in Tobermory, the main town on the Isle of Mull, through the BBC programme Designing the Hebrides, in which the brilliant Banjo Beale transformed the Drawing Room into a spa by day and a bar by night. This room still exists (see photo) and is incredibly inviting. We were upgraded to a room with a spectacular view of the harbour and the Sound of Mull. The TV definitely stayed off. You get a similar view from the restaurant, too. It's probably the best setting in Tobermory. And what about the food? We had the mussels from the island. We were delighted.
