Admittedly, we chose 'Another Place, The Machrie' on the Isle of Islay primarily because it is the hotel associated with the magnificent 'The Machrie Golf Links'. All the better, then, that the hotel is impressive in its own right, quite apart from the golf course. From the warm welcome on arrival, to the fantastic dinner and varied breakfast, and the tastefully furnished rooms and public spaces, everything here is just right. A clear recommendation. Unfortunately, it's a bit pricey.
