Maryculter House

The impressive Maryculter House, dated back to 1460, is about ten miles south-west of Abderdeen, on the banks of the River Dee. And although you can look out of your bedroom window onto a golf course, I wouldn't call it a golf hotel. But it is a very stylish stopover for anyone looking to do something other than golf in Scotland. The impressive ruins of Dunnottar Castle are just a stone's throw away, and the hotel is also an ideal base for excursions to Royal Deeside.
